Write a ReviewI feel safer having the alarm watch…
Having the alarm watch gives me greater peace of mind because I know I can use it in an emergency. My only real criticism is its appearance, as I find it looks quite bulky and would prefer something more discreet when going out for an evening.
It’s comfortable
The watch is comfortable and stylish, and it is easy to charge. Most importantly, it provides peace of mind for both me and my family.
Rapid Response
I am quite elderly and not particularly confident with technology, so I was very pleased with the quick and detailed response from Customer Service. They explained the functions I was having difficulty understanding clearly and patiently.
The system was too sensitive at times.
At times, I found the system overly sensitive. For example, it would activate while I was simply sitting down or when I removed the watch before having a bath. However, it did not activate when I actually fell in the kitchen, which was disappointing.
The length of the battery concerns me…
The battery life is a concern for me because the watch needs charging more frequently than I originally expected. I would have preferred it to last longer between charges.
The principle is good but the battery…
I think the concept behind the watch is good, but the battery life is extremely disappointing. These watches are intended for people who may be disabled, elderly, living alone or experiencing memory problems, and my wife finds the short battery life difficult to manage without my help. In our experience, the battery lasts only around 72 hours, so we now have to keep track of charging it on the calendar. I have a sports watch with many more features that lasts at least 12 days between charges. I don't understand why Stride cannot provide similar battery performance.
Doesn't Work When You Need It Too
My mother-in-law suffered a serious fall while she was outdoors, but the watch did not detect the incident. She sustained significant head injuries and was understandably very dazed afterwards. Customer service explained that the watch will not detect every fall and recommended manual activation, although they could not explain how this would be possible if someone was unable to activate it themselves. We had paid the company a considerable amount over the months, as well as the initial cost of the band. Following this incident, I cancelled the service immediately. I was told that a sudden fall followed by an equally sudden stop was apparently outside the watch's fall detection parameters.
Be aware of the alert conditions
My husband has been using a Stride watch for more than a year and wears it every day. Even a small knock can sometimes trigger a fall detection message, followed by a call checking whether he is alright or needs assistance. The staff who call are always friendly, kind and helpful. Thankfully, most of these alerts have not been genuine emergencies, but this week my husband fell at home while he was alone. He was unable to press the button on his watch or get help and remained on the floor for around 45 minutes. When I contacted Stride, I was told that his wrist may not have moved in a way that triggered the alert and that he could have pressed the button manually. I was also asked whether I wanted to upgrade. Because the watch has previously alerted us after simple knocks, we had assumed that it would provide protection if he actually fell. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that an 83-year-old person who has fallen will be able to activate the alarm themselves. This is something I feel potential customers should be aware of. Until this happened, we had been very happy with the watch, the service and the staff.
Very pleased with my watch it responds immediately
I am very pleased with my watch and the way it responds immediately if I have a fall. It gives me a greater sense of security wherever I am. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is at risk of falling.
My watch went off a few times when we…
My watch activated several times while we were in a theatre, which caused considerable distress for both me and members of my family. Because of this, I changed the action level to low, and that has made a significant improvement.
My mother got the watch two weeks ago
My mother had only had the watch for two weeks when she suffered a fall caused by a stroke. Unfortunately, the watch did not detect the fall. Given the purpose of the device, I found this extremely concerning and potentially dangerous.
Yourstride…
I have been contacted by the team and have always been treated courteously. They have also taken the time to ask for my opinions and feedback. Although wearing the watch makes me feel a little more aware of getting older, my friends think it is a good idea. My main concerns are that it feels slightly bulky and I would prefer a longer battery life.
Totally Unreliable …
Unless you have a strong 4G or 5G signal, I would not recommend relying on this device. My wife has experienced two falls and neither one was detected. The reliability of the service appears to depend heavily on the mobile signal available.
No, don't do it!
If you don't have an excellent cellular signal where you live, I would be very cautious about using this. With little or no signal, there may be no connection when you need it. My father has experienced signal-related problems for more than a year. In my experience, it has been a waste of money and raises concerns about relying on the fall watch during an emergency.
